THE COMBAT INSTITUTE
TCI COMMUNITY APP – TERMS OF USE
Last updated: 23 October 2026
1. WHO WE ARE
The TCI Community App is operated by JW MMA Limited, trading as The Combat Institute, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16269016.
These Terms of Use explain the rules for accessing and using the TCI Community App.
For questions about these terms, please contact info@jwmma.com.
2. ACCEPTING THESE TERMS
By creating an account or using the TCI Community App, you agree to these Terms of Use.
If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
These terms apply to the app only. Gym memberships, class bookings, payments, cancellations and participation in martial arts activities remain subject to any separate terms, policies and waivers that apply to those services.
3. WHO CAN USE THE APP
The app is intended for authorised members of The Combat Institute and other individuals we expressly permit to access it.
Accounts are personal and must not be shared.
Parents or legal guardians may manage information concerning their children where the app permits this. Children must not create or use independent accounts unless we have expressly authorised the arrangement and any necessary parental permission has been obtained.
We may verify eligibility before granting or continuing access.
4. YOUR ACCOUNT
You agree to provide accurate information and keep it reasonably up to date.
You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and informing us promptly if you believe somebody else has accessed your account.
You must not attempt to access another person's account or information without permission.
5. COMMUNITY CONTENT
The app may allow members to submit news, achievements, photographs, stories and other information for consideration by The Combat Institute.
Submitting content does not guarantee publication. We may review, edit for clarity, decline, remove or moderate submissions where reasonably necessary.
You must only submit content that you have the right to share. You must not submit false, abusive, discriminatory, threatening, unlawful or otherwise inappropriate material.
You must not publish or submit another person's private information, photographs or sensitive details without appropriate permission.
6. PHOTOGRAPHS AND CHILDREN'S INFORMATION
Photographs and videos of identifiable members or children must only be used in accordance with the relevant permissions and our Privacy Policy.
Parents and guardians must have appropriate authority to submit information or photographs concerning a child.
Permission for photographs or videos to appear within the members-only app is separate from permission for public marketing, including social media, advertising and our website.
You can withdraw photography permission by contacting info@jwmma.com. We will act on withdrawal requests in accordance with applicable law and our Privacy Policy.
7. CONTENT OWNERSHIP AND PERMISSION TO USE SUBMISSIONS
You retain ownership of original content that belongs to you.
When you submit content for publication in the app, you give JW MMA Limited a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to store, review, reproduce, format and display that content within the TCI Community App for its intended community purposes.
This permission does not automatically authorise us to use identifiable photographs or videos in public advertising or marketing. Separate permission is required where applicable.
You confirm that you have the necessary rights and permissions to provide any content you submit.
8. RESPECTING OTHER MEMBERS
Information shared within the app may be intended only for the TCI community.
You must respect other members' privacy and must not misuse, harvest, distribute or publicly repost their personal information or private content without appropriate permission.
You must not harass other members, impersonate anyone, interfere with the app's security or attempt unauthorised access to its systems.
9. MODERATION AND ACCOUNT ACCESS
We may remove content, restrict features or suspend access where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached, somebody's safety or privacy is at risk, or action is necessary to protect the app or its users.
Where appropriate and reasonably practicable, we may explain the reason and provide an opportunity to raise a concern.
We may also withdraw access when a person is no longer eligible to use the app.
10. DELETING YOUR ACCOUNT
You may request account deletion using the Delete Account feature in the app, where available, or by contacting info@jwmma.com.
Account deletion is intended to remove your private account information, associated private submissions and owned uploaded photographs.
Published Community News stories associated with your account, and linked newsletter sections, will also be removed under the app's current deletion rules.
Deleting an app account does not automatically cancel a gym membership, payment agreement or other contract with The Combat Institute.
Information that must legally be retained, if any, will be handled in accordance with applicable law and our Privacy Policy.
11. PRIVACY AND DATA PROTECTION
We handle personal information in accordance with applicable UK data protection law and our Privacy Policy.
Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we use it, who we share it with and how you can exercise your rights.
You can read it at:
https://www.thecombatinstitute.com/privacy-policy
12. APP AVAILABILITY AND CHANGES
We aim to keep the app available and functioning properly, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access.
We may update, improve, suspend or discontinue features where reasonably necessary for security, maintenance, legal compliance or operational reasons.
We will seek to provide appropriate notice of significant changes where reasonably practicable.
13. IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND LIABILITY
Information provided through the app, including schedules, announcements and community updates, is for general information.
We take reasonable care over information we publish, but details may occasionally change or contain errors.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or rights that cannot legally be excluded.
These terms do not remove your statutory consumer rights.
14. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The app may contain links to third-party websites or services, including membership and booking systems.
Those services may operate under their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their independent content or practices, except where the law provides otherwise.
15. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these Terms of Use to reflect changes in the app, our operations or legal requirements.
We will update the date at the top of this page and provide additional notice of material changes where appropriate.
Continued use of the app following a validly notified change may indicate acceptance, where permitted by law. Where further agreement is legally required, we will request it.
16. GOVERNING LAW
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory legal protections that apply to you.
Any disputes will be dealt with by the courts having jurisdiction under applicable law.
